The Lively supports farm-to-table Idaho growers like Purple Sage Farms

Award-winning Chef Edward Higgins of ‘The Lively’ joined Idaho Today’s host, Mellisa Paul, at Purple Sage Farms to show the meticulous process of finding the perfect ingredients to inspire a delicious dish at Idaho’s premier restaurant, The Lively. Purple Sage Farms herbs, spices, greens, and vegetables are thoughtfully grown and proudly certified organic on a family farm in Middleton, Idaho. This is one of the chef's favorite sources of fresh produce. "It's one of the first places I stopped and was thoroughly blown away by what Tim Sommer does here."

Purple Sage Farms offers produce that is hard to find or source in Idaho. "He grows within the season," explained Chef Edward. "We're not stretching seasons here."

The chef explained that our grandparents grew their food was farm to table naturally. Chef is always inspired by Tim's offerings at Purple Sage farms, and even Mellisa was surprised by the Stevia plant's natural sweetness. The varieties and the passion that Tim brings to raising his inspired crops create a virtual candy land for Chef Higgins, who relies on his work to make his chef tables and menus shine at The Lively.

Nature has all of these bounties available, and Idaho farmers like Tim make a chef's job easier with the respect and care he brings to his plants and the soil they grow in. For more than 30 years, Purple Sage Farms has specialized in growing a wide range of organic herbs, greens, and vegetables. Today that has expanded to over 250 varieties of crops ranging from the familiar and traditional to the obscure and exotic, whether they are culinary, medicinal, or both.

Chef Edward Higgins relies on Purple Sage Farms greens and salad mixes that change with our seasons to include various colors, flavors, and shapes for his inspired meals.

The Lively accepts online reservations for lunch and dinner services for parties of up to seven guests.
